I’m sorry if I am repeating others info. I have been tied up the last few days with our Tractor Show here in Apache Junction this past weekend.  I just want to make sure everyone was aware that when you send money using the “Friends and Family” procedure a large amount of the protections are lost .  I don’t have time to go into the details but go to the Paypal site and make sure you understand what protections for the transaction are lost when using the ‘’Friends and Family” procedure. Yes there are no fees for either the seller of the buyer but it doesn’t come free/

But notice the fine print--only in the US.

But paypal knows Mattias is not in the US and instead gives a currency conversion screen

And Charlie made an excellent point: the email address that we have been using, davidbrown950 at gmail.com <mailto:davidbrown950 at gmail.com> , is a bit confusing.  His name is not David Brown obviously but for those of you who are not familiar with them, David Brown is a brand of tractors and 950 was a model. I’ve always assumed Mattias owned or did own a David Brown 950.

It’ll ask for the recipients email address. key in that  address I mentioned

Key in the amount you want to send. Here’s the only tricky part. It may default to Euros so be sure to select SEK (which is the abbreviation for Swedish krona)

Next, select your funding source.

Lastley you’ll get a confirmation screen asking you to review the information. Click send payment now and you are done!

I’m happy to report to one of our long-time members has stepped up to help. Mattias Kessén(Sweden) is involved in helping acclimate some Ukrainian refugees to his area in Sweden.  Here a quote from him in some emails we have been exchanging:

Final settlement and logistics are not finalized but it appears Mattiias will be - more likely than not - hosting a family.  After much cajoling and begging on my part I finally convinced him to let the list chip in a few bucks towards his own and his town’s and school’s sacrifice to take care of these folks and offset a few expenses.

And I did this for one reason. It’s so hard for us in the US to know who to support with our financial resources in this war.  There’s so many aid organizations and go fund me pages and what not. Also, I know some folks have trouble with some of the foreign payment systems. But this is something we can do. I’m not sure that the financial need is all that great in this particular situation but every dollar is a vote of confidence and support. I think that’s probably the greatest gift:  That the folks taking care of business in Sweden know we understand their sacrifice(it’s important to note that Kyiv is closer to Mattias than his moose hunting grounds).

If you want to help Mattias and his town, simply send a small gift to his PayPal address:

I’ve already sent a small donation via PayPal and I’ve confirmed that the money safely reached them quickly.   He’ll make sure that the funds are used responsibly for offsetting expenses for the folks and institutions hosting and helping these families.
