[AT] Cub Fuel Tank

I’ve heard, probably on this list, of bungee cording the tank to a rear tractor wheel, jacking up the tractor, and just letting it run for a few hours. When I’ve tried to shake ‘em clean I run out of patience and armstrong way before they are clean. Haven’t had one to do since hearing about the tractor wheel idea but I plan to do that next time it comes up. Seems like one would have to reattach the tank in a different position to get all sides polished, maybe not if you put enough stuff in the tank.

Hi Dennis,
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but a lot of people in the past have had good success placing nuts and bolts in it and shaking it a few times a day.

See photos below of stuff from Cub gas tank. Need a good way to clean it out. It appears that sometime in it’s past life someone tried to install a gas tank liner that failed and now looks like the pictures. Most of this came out using a salad tong, but as prices are getting smaller, it is getting less each time I try to grab some. Tried using a “air chugger pump” with limited success. Stuff is too “clumped” to run out of tank bottom outlet. Blowing air into the tank moves the stuff, but does not get it out.
Any ideas on how to clean this tank??
