I have it drying with a fan in front of it.  The trouble is it has a 
broken brush holder.  The insulated one.  It looks like a Delco.  I once 
could order all the parts from a place in Indiana but they closed down...

Sometimes you can simply dry out the unit by separating it into its two main parts and baking them in an oven for a short while at a low temperature to remove any moisture. Then put it back together and test it on a bench. Don’t let the parts get too hot or you may damage the insulation on the wire and there’s no coming back from that. All you really want to do is try to remove any moisture.
