That's interesting, Mike.  The rings themselves have features that latch?
I've not seen that, but again I'll disclaim that the majority of my
2-stroke experience is 4 decades old.  I might have to do a little Google
Image search.  Sounds different from the feature Henry mentioned, which
goes something like:  One little pin in each ring groove, below the
surface, and little notches on the insides of each end of the ring, so when
the rings are installed, those notches come together to fit to the pin, and
the ring can't rotate on the piston.  I am attaching a quick and dirty
little mouse sketch.
