I wear a mask also.   It is a PIA. but I am one of the ones that could have bad outcomes from the Zombie Apolitze so why not.

I believe if everyone would follow the simple rules this thing could die down and save a lot of lives. It will not completely go away until a vaccine is developed.

People need to be able to go back to work.
The same thing happened during the FLUE pandemic. People refused to wear masks. Americans hate to be told what to do. :-}

Hey, guys, can't we cool off the rhetoric?
Accept that there are good people who refuse/decline to do simple things which might help prevent big problems.
I wear a mask, because why the hell not? I recently met with an Amish man who asked why I was carrying a mask, ready to put it on. I told him I'm healthy but am willing to look like a Halloween character to protect him.

You (and your other list members who will not speak openly, apparently) can say what you want. The largest virus in the world is much much smaller than the smallest bacteria known. Medical masks can block bacteria in some cases but do not block viruses. Virus transmission is not the intent of a surgical mask. Don't even begin on what these paper masks and cloth masks prevent.
You in essence just called me stupid. Too bad you come to that. History will sort this out. You won't like the result when your country reopens and covid somehow re-emerges in your country after it subsides everywhere else. Warren

I do think at 2 cents, you've over-valued your opinion.

As someone on the listed mailed me: "Americans suffer from two virus, Covid-19 and stupidity."

A poll out today, (Fox New) yielded 74% of Americans desire a National Mask Mandate.

 Spencer,
I'm sorry to hear of your loss and potential future loss of friends and family. I agree with the member that said in so many words "enough is enough, that ATIS is a place to read without all this garbage."
That said, I have two cents to offer: Barely any of what we hear about this is true or settled. People have died, but they die of the flu every year. How many months now has the death toll been between 150,000-160,000? It's been a while. The virus has about burned itself out in the USA. It may come back in the winter, or it may not. Who knows. The one certainty is the hysteria about it will CEASE on Nov 3rd regardless of what's happening with caseloads.
No offense to the respondent from New Zealand, but theirs is not a response to be emulated. You cannot hide from a virus. Other countries will be well and done with Covid 19 and NZ will become a new hotspot once they relax restrictions.
Young folks figured out early on they have negligible risk and rightfully so. That's why they went on Spring Breaks and the other nonsense of youth months ago- it does not infect or at least affect them. So far there is not one case of a public school aged child transmitting to an adult and any youth aged Covid death is suspect at best. Teachers Unions are now holding this Country hostage and by extension it's economy by keeping parents out of work.
My personal opinion is if you have so much confidence in the stupid paper or even worse, cloth mask then you wear your mask and protect yourself. These cheap pieces of garbage take droplets which don't travel far due to weight and aerosalize them where they go much farther. Don't tie a bandanna on your face and tell me you are "preventing the spread". That is just silly. Same with any other cloth or paper mask. Nothing but social conditioning for an illness with a high 90% survival rate. Does not minimize the losses but does not justify hysteria.
And that's enough for me, Warren

I thought it was a big upgrade when I got to go from a blackboard to a whiteboard.  And that wasn’t an electronic whiteboard, just one that let us use erasable dry markers rather than chalk.  I still have my chalk chuck.  I use it in the shop to make timing marks easier to see.   Jim Becker      From: Mark Johnson

These days, a teacher, especially at the college level, darn near needs an associate's degree in Electrical Technology to operate all the classroom electronics.

I had enough trouble, 10 years back, as an adjunct instructor, just dealing with the electronic whiteboard in a small computer-lab classroom.

Hahaha..well I'm not sure it's really a thing. It was easier to say that then to say the installed computers, switchers, cameras, microphones, etc, etc.   It's surprising how complex some of these systems are. Multiple monitors, multiple projectors that show different inputs, software to record it all for later learning.   Brad From: AT mailto:at-bounces at lists.antique-tractor.com on behalf of Jim Becker mailto:mr.jebecker at gmail.com

Subject: Re: [AT] [External] Re: Covid-19       I had a friend call and ask to use my trailer to haul some furniture for his son going back to college. It's going to be interesting how this all unfolds.   I work in IT at University of Iowa, so for me this work from home has been pretty much business as usual so I'm very lucky in that regard. I work closely with the folks that maintain the classrooms (due to podium technology) and they are equipping far more rooms to keep the class sizes down. In addition some will attend the classroom while others participate online.   But as John says, the dorms and apartment complexes are confined spaces. And lets be honest, when Friday night and the weekend roll around, how many teen and 20-somethings are going to want to social distance? We saw pictures of Spring Break in the south. I presume we're going to see an uptick in our county numbers in early October.   2020 has been a shit-show of a year, plus it's an election year on top of it. I'll be so glad to put this year in the rear view mirror, things have got to get better....right?   Brad
