I wonder if the dolly wheel might also protect the tines when working on rough ground. When the front of my tractor goes up, the rake goes down. I broke enough tines in a season that I started painting them day glow orange so I could find them.... or maybe it is because I can only buy the cheap rubber tines? The 660 rake takes 90 tines as I recall, so just replacing them is no small cost.

I like my dolly wheels on my rake. It is much easier to hook to the
tractor. It also makes it possible to make 180 degree turn-a-rounds when
raking double windrows while keeping the rake away from the tires.
