I had 2 Massey 85's and still have a Super 90 that needs to be put back
together. It had a cracked block. If you take that little pump off, I
bet you will find that the gears have scored the side plates of the
pump. If you an find a machine shop with a surface grinder, you can
grind the side plates smooth again. The gears are probably oK, but if
not they can be resurfaced and the entire pump reassembled with the
right clearance. If the gears are reground, the center section will
need a little resurfacing. We did ours many years ago for less than $100
when the price of a pump was over $1800. If you can find a hobby
machinist, they usually jump at the chance to do some real work.... I
was going to resurface ours on the lathe, but an old retired machinist
friend had a surface grinder...
