I've done a few repairs to my rims and a few of my tractors show a history of past repairs.
I'm presently patching my ac ca rim. After sansblasting the hole was large enough to put my hand through. I'm piecing it together with metal strips and a lot of hammering, bending, grinding, and welding. It gets discouraging because I think the pieces won't work. I have walked away from the project a few times. Now I'm happy with it and it's just about ready for some finish paint.
I would love to just buy new but I need to start thinking about retirement so I sacrifice my time instead.

What success have you guys had in welding up/in patches where the
valve stem goes on rear tractor tires. The hole for the stem is about
3x's what it should be. I also have some cracks. FWIW this is a rear
tire on a 4020 Deere, full of fluid, and we do heavy pulling with the
tractor--I'm guessing that is what caused the leak to develop today. All
I know is its sweating enough to actually run water out of the valve
stem area.
