IMHO, I would run backwards as fast as possible from a 8N!!!!!   If you 
are stuck on a 7ft mower, then I would want at least a 70hp tractor.   
There are some good JD 4010 propane tractors out there for a good 
price.   I just sent a 100 hp Deutz tractor to Northern Indiana for a 
total price of $3800 including shipping.   It needed some work on the 
cab and tires, but otherwise it was in pretty good shape.  The buyer was 
very happy.    I hae a 4010 LP that will only bring about $2500 to $3000 
at auction here.  If you can use propane, you can get a really trouble 
free tractor for very little money.   Propane is also very clean and you 
do not have to worry about someone stealing the fuel.   Filling one by 
the siphon method is not very difficult, just have to not smoke or make 
any sparks while filing...
