[AT] Johnson County Indiana tractor show/Denton SEOld Threseher's Reunion

Same here Al. I have some physical work I need to get done outside and I'm
actually afraid to try to do it. I can barely breath in the house and I
believe I could hang some hams and sausages in the trees and smoke them as
well as we used to do in the smoke house.

I'm testing my memory here but isn't the planting date for Soybeans already
past? You can still plant them but unless they extend the deadline can you
insure the crop? I hear some guys are thinking about planting Milo (grain
sorghum) instead. I don't know if that would work or not.

Threseher's Reunion

Charlie,

If we could get some rain in the next couple days corn would not be a total
loss. The big issue right now for us is trying to get soybeans planted
behind wheat. The shower we got Monday put a little moisture in the ground,
especially since there is nothing growing there, but I honestly don't know
if there's enough to germinate a soybean or not. I am afraid they would
just cook in the ground right now.

I know it's not right to complain but there's no other way to say it: I am
tired of the heat, humidity, no rain, and to top it off, this damned smoke!
I will be glad to see the first frost whether it rains or not! This
miserable smoke has blown in and out a time or two over the last week, but
we've been socked in here at home since about 6:00 this evening. Everytime
I see a forest ranger on the news talking about the fire is 30% contained I
want to grab him by his collar and tell him to get off the camera, get his
shovel and "fire flapper" and get back in the @##$ woods!!

Al
