[AT] Off topic but tractor related

Thanks John. Good suggestions. Planting more squash and zucchini is a good
plan. Actually because of the amount of trees in my yard, I'm having to
plant my garden in small plots that get adequate sunlight. that means I
can't really work the plots with a tractor. A disc or plow doesn't work too
well when you only pull it one tractor length. grins. What I've been doing
is tilling the plots up with a garden tiller. I've only got about 6" of
loamy sand before I get to pure yellow sand and it's so dry this year that
the soil is dry at the bottom of that 6 inches and only damp above that from
water I spray on almost every day with a garden hose. I've got access to
all the horse manure I need and I think I'll try to add some organic matter
and till that in down into the yellow sand. As I said, this is an
experiment. I don't mind telling you (without tying to be political) that I
am worried about the state of the economy and where our country is headed
and I'm trying to prepare to grow as much of my food as I can.

This years garden is a test of my rusty skills and of the capability of this
sand hill I live on. I've got seed put back for following years. I asked
for a pressure canner for Christmas and Santa was nice enough to provide it
so I want to try those skills out this year too.

Charlie
