Same here Mark. Funny though I recall people talking the same way about 
power steering when it was still a rare option on new cars. The claim was 
that you just didn't get the real feel of the road through the hydraulic 
steering.
I still prefer mechanical linkages. Nothing else I've driven seems to have 
the real precise response better than the throttle cable controlled 
quadrajet carburetor on my old 81 GMC.
