You could go to a refrigeration supply house and get a compressor heater as
used on some heat 
Pumps. You could also mount a klixon (sp) thermostat so that the heater was
energized only when
Needed. 
Some of these heaters are mounted by an attached stainless steel gear clamp,
and wrap around the 
Compressor.

What I need now is a block heater for my air compressor. The big Coleman 6
hp refused to start today in the unheated shed. I've got an old car interior
warmer that I plan to plug in and see if I can persuade it to turn over
tomorrow.
