You have the right idea, Farmer.  What "we" use for the identity tag is custom-printed tee-shirts with a custom logo on it that represents our line of tractors (Power King).  When a group of us shows up at a show, the sea of orange tee-shirts makes it look like we are the most organized tractor club imaginable.  In fact, we rarely see each other and only have regular contact by email.  IMHO, the tee-shirts work better than hats, flags, buttons, name tags or almost anything else you might use for identity.  It helps that we have a "member" who owns a dry cleaning establishment that imprints tee-shirts..
