An old gentleman  Sunday school teacher  I had    as a kid use to run a  
gas station  near  Paris Ill.    As a kid  he worked for one  on  hyway 1   - 
that was  a  main  run  to  Chicago  in those days.
 
the owner of the station  had  several of the   rope   filter systems set 
up---  a lot of the old cars   USED  some oil  and  they locals  would come 
by  and  buy  USED-filtered  oil for those cars    between   oil changes.
