A 65 and 265 massey has a small range shifter lever on the right side of
the transmission top cover. It must be shifted into neutral in order
for the starter solenoid to energize. If you look on top of the
transmission between the transmission cover and the bell housing you
will see the neutral switch. It is placed so that any drainage from the
battery gets soaked up by the wiring in it. There are bullet terminals
that fit into the neutral switch. These usually get corroded. They
bypassing this switch and see if it starts.
