Some time back Spencer reported on making and running home made bio-diesel.

A friend of mine drives a small VW pickup using home made fuel from waste
cooking oil.

Not sure of his process but he says it cost him about $.57 per gallon.

I know of another fellow that just burns the used cooking oil in his diesel
pickup. Seems that he has the regular diesel tank, a dirty oil tank. (He
takes this oil home and heats and filters it through a 1 micron ?? Filter.)
The third tank is for the clean cooking oil. He starts and shuts down the
truck engine on regular diesel and after the truck is warmed up switches to
the filtered oil. The only processing he does is filter the used oil. Been
doing this for a couple years with no problems.

Discussion-- I have been told that one of the best ways of disposing of used
diesel engine oil is to burn some of it in each tank of diesel. Sure should
be careful to keep it clean. A caution was not to burn the crank case oil
from a gasoline engine in a diesel engine.
