Hi Al and all,

I have two portables, a5000 kw peak and a 6250. If not used, I start them twice a year to keep them in shape. Every other time (annually), I siphon the gas from the tank. I add a dabble of dry gas on fill up so it is pretty much water free and clean. This gas is added to gas that will be used up in a truck or tractor so nothing wasted. After a refill of fresh fuel to the generators, they get at least a 10 minute run under load to flush the carbs with fresh fuel. I may also add a bit of carb cleaner to the fuel. To make a long story short, it seems to keep them ready to go if needed..and not a big deal to do. The smaller one I bought new during our massive ice storm in 1991. The fuel change plan seems to keep it starting and running fine.
