Yanmar USA doesn't like them, of course, because of liability issues - 
the units do no meet US OSHA and other safety/emissions requirements. 
But the big problem will be parts: while the engines and other 
components may be very similar to those used in John Deere and other 
machines, they are not identical. And even when they are the same, there 
are no cross reference books to guide you. And if the part cannot be 
obtained from JD or others, you are going to have a hard time locating 
them. I used to work for a franchised Yanmar dealer, and the machines we 
sold (tracked excavators and articulated wheel loaders) were excellent 
machines, we would not (could not) assist owners of gray market 
machines. Yanmar did import some tractors into the US about 20 years 
ago, but even getting parts for the legal machines was very difficult 
with out a parts manual (and even that often didn't help).
