Don't remember where I saw it, but they do (or did) make a cadmium paint. I
believe it's used for painting cadmium plated items that have had the
cadmium plating burned away during welding, and in cases where the cadmium
finish becomes otherwise damaged.

One note to keep in mind is that cadmium in now on the governments no-no
list for use in military applications (big time). Cadmium is considered a
very toxic substance and the government, and most industries for that
matter, no longer want to deal with the environmental ramifications related
to using it. It is however, probably the best plating to use on anything
that need to have plating. It can withstand 500 hours of salt spray without
peeling off, and takes a lot of scraping before you get to the base metal.
