[AT] ZTR's laughing

I bought a 10 year old Kubota F-2400 4WD front mower the year before last at
the end of the season and have not regretted it. It is not a true zero turn,
but will pivot and allow a return on the adjacent swatch. I decided on the
tractor type because they are supposed to be easier to control on steep side
hills. The job done by a mower that travels in front of the tractor on wet
grass is just without comparison. Last fall, I mowed some trails through a
field I had bush hogged in early August and couldn't believe the amount of
grass that could be cut at a good walking pace.

I bought a blade for it on ebay and have found it to be a formidable snow
pusher compared to my 2WD garden tractors. Nice toy, and you do not have to
mortgage the house to buy an older one in good shape. A unit with 1700
hours on it will easily outlast me. If I ever find one, I would like to
pick up a snow blower for it, then I might get to hear the diesel bark a
little. Otherwise, 24 HP is just not required for grass.
