Dean and the list, here is my current progress. After talking to the JD 
parts depot I am much more satisfied. First, the person I talked to there 
was really helpful - very good. Second he knew who at the local dealer dealt 
with them and could set up the order! Even better! After three phone calls 
between myself and the dealer, I have the part coming for $8.50 plus 
shipping. This is excellent. The really interesting part is that the Parts 
Depot stated that since they have had the part in stock, I am the first 
person to order it from their stock. Truly amazing. I expect to have it in 
hand mid next week.
    In short, I now know how to get the parts for this equipment and 
possibly can get the items needed for other old equipment this way. Thank 
you very much!
