Cecil:

I sent Grant a private note to help guide him further. I suspect the dealer
in Colorado is Fellow ATIS JD member Greg Stephen. However, Greg can be
really hard to reach at times. But what is going on is Grant's dealer is
doing a nationwide JD Dealer search rather than go to the "Parts Depot"
which is the name of a warehouse in Chilton Wisconsin which has over 860,000
obsolete parts in stock of many different brands. It is owned by John Deere
and there is a web site we consumers can get into to check to see if they
have any of the parts we are looking for, in stock. But we can't order
direct from them. We have to go through an authorized dealer. All dealers,
including JD Dealers have to sign up with them to become authorized dealers.
Apparently Grant's dealer isn't aware of the "Parts Depot" or isn't an
authorized dealer. But I have checked and they have 8 of the parts Grant is
looking for in stock.

Grant's dealer is doing a nationwide JD Dealer search for Grant's part and
Greg Stephen at Stephen Equipment in Franktown, CO must be showing up as
having the parts. It was my understanding that the "Parts Depot" inventory
is supposed to also show up on that "Dealer" search but maybe it isn't. I
have given Grant the 800 number for the "parts depot" so he can contact them
directly to get a referral to an authorized dealer close to him.

> Dean, I contacted the dealer and was referred to a dealer in Colorado who

then referred me to an independent "two cylinder parts" operation
associated

with that dealer. They showed stock in the computer system. I called back

and asked them to recheck with JD obselete parts as you suggested and they

said that they no longer have an association with the obselete parts folks.

Hmm. This is odd. The Colorado operation has the voice mailbox full.

Grant, there must be another JD dealer there somewhere. Our
JD dealer automatically checks JD Obsolete Parts Dealers when I go in
for something for one of my JDs. The last time I was in and looking
for a part, he told me a dealer in Texas had the part, told me the
price and asked if I wanted it. This was a high pressure line in the
fuel system for my JD 2010 diesel crawler. The part was here and on
the tractor within a week.
