[AT] Vintage tractor pulling advice

I once took an Allis WC on steel up town to show it off...drove in the
ditches up to Depot St, which is gravel.  It was one rough ride but then
when I saw what I was doing to the street I did a U and came back home.  I
figured I'd make a lot of enemies if I went much further.  Later one
old-timer told me that the secret of driving on steel is to get going fast
enough that the lugs "skim" along the top of the gravel.  Uh-huh...fast
enough...to skim...  Yeah, that sounds like a good idea....
