[AT] Ford 640 with Sherman Backhoe Question

I spent a little more time going over the hoe, and for sure I need to repair
the lower bushings on the boom. It also looks to me that part of the
problem might be with the bucket itself. Looks like it might be for a
different machine as the bushing look to be a different size. Hard to tell
for sure. I am thinking that once I get the bushing replaced, I will try
and find a smaller bucket to use. The current bucket is 24" or so which
seems a little large. I did order a parts and operator's manual (assuming I
guessed correctly on the model), so maybe it will have bushing size info.

I also noticed that one of the cylinder shafts has a little pitting and rust
at the extreme end of its travel. I probably should think about fixing that
sometime as well, but will probably wait to see if I can get the bushing
done.

Thanks again to the list for all the help. I'll update as things progress
on this end.

John i had a massy ferg back hoe mounted on an old case tractor that had
the same problem. I was able to find a bearing that fit the bushing hole
and had a new pin made to fit bearing and top and bottom holes. Don't know
what your unit looks like but mine had a section sticking out from tractor
mount and boom mount above and below. The pin was larger on top and a
second bushing was made to fit in the bottom over the pin if i remember
right. ????????????????? been a few years
