[AJD] R Stuck in Fifth Gear

I had that exact same thing happen to a R I bought home.   All was
going real well until it was time to put it back in the shop and it
just would not get out of fifth gear.   Since I had done R tranny's
before I tried doing exactly what you are thinking, after messing
with it for hours, I finally broke down and just pulled the
shift housing off.  I did not remove the pony, but I think I had to remove
the foot plate (dash as the parts book has it).   Got the shifter forks all
aligned right and it has never happened again.
