Yes, some JD's do have a bit of a whine. Is it unique to 6th gear?  Check to
see if the noise is really coming from the transmission, rear end or the
reduction gear on the right side. I have heard some who have used JD's gear
oil and the noise has been reduced some. What weight gear oil did you use?

My 630 seems to whine when pulling down the road with a load in 6th gear.
Is this noise normal?  I changed the oil in the rear end and tranmission.  I
was just wondering if it is supposed to be so loud.  It is louder than any
farmalls I have had and my Case 730.  Thanks, Ricky
