Allen, while I have absolutely no experience with
electric over hydraulic, IMHO it sounds like a
complicated and possibly high maintenance operation. 
I would opt for the straight electric brakes myself. 
I have found them to be very trouble free and work
well.  Also I like the option of being able to hit the
trailer brakes when the rear end decides it wants to
lead instead of follow.  Been there, done that, no
fun!
I am curious about this other option, though.
