I am not a father as of yet! but if or when I
become one, I hope I never make such a mistake or do
anything stupid that may jeopardize my child's life.
I'd like to ask this question and maybe get some
opinions on it. Do you think parents put their
children on such dangerous equipment or in such
situations because its cool/ or possibly something for
that child to remember... a bonding thing?
or do you think todays rush-rush-rush world with
both parents working. The mind set is "oh, we don't
need a babysitter, I'll hold Jeffy in my lap while
cutting the grass." or "Sally will be alright. I can
just strap her to the fender here. I can get my work
done and still keep an eye on her."
or Is it that some parents are just flat
STUPID these days. I suppose all of the above are
stupid but hind sight is always 20-20 and it seems
very few people think of what could happen. With all
the seminars offered, What more can possibly be done
to give people common sense when it comes to the
dangers of equipment?
The story that most saddens me was quite a
few years ago, in Quarryville,Pa. A 3 year old girl
got away from her mother. Ran out into the hay field
and was swallowed up by the haybine her grandfather
was driving. I think this is an accident that could
have happened to any parent.
