I changed the subject line just a little as I now have the
tiller home. For those who are Kubota fans, it is an FL-1270 rotary
tiller made for up to 22 hp tractors with category 1 3pt hitch and
also can be used with PTO speeds of between 540, which is standard
for us, and 1000 rpm, which is available on Kubotas as well as some
other foreign tractors. It weighs just under 500 pounds so it is not
something I can pick up and carry around. Seems to have plenty of
depth adjustment on the skids for tilling up to 8 inches deep. The
width of the cut is 50". It has provisions for up to 8 inches of
offset to cover rear wheel tracks. I am hoping this is what I think
it is. Since I got older in life I have come close to adopting the
motto, "Be careful what you wish for, you may get it." I hope this
does not fit the motto.

Charlie, I will take to heart your experience with the PTO
on the D-12 Series III. I can always try this out on the JD 40 which
should handle it easily. Both tractors have weights on the front so
the weight should be no problem. Not that the JD 40 is expendable, it
is just that I don't want to break anything made of unobtainium. ;-(
