I've done this as well, with a Cub Lo-Boy, and while it was the only
option I had at the time, it wasn't all that great mostly due to the
inability to tie the tractor down.

Another issue with U-Haul style boxes is that the floors are aluminum
sheetmetal, and the moment that gets wet, muddy or gets any oil on it, you
lose all control if you are trying to load or unload the tractor.  If you
never load, unload or transport a tractor in rain or snow, and if you
never drip any oil on the floor, this may not be an issue for you, but for
the rest of us, it can be pretty dangerous.
