Possibly they want the operating system and major programs in a smaller 
drive for speed of access?  I use Partition Magic and create virtual drives 
for specific purposes such as picture storage.  Windows will run programs 
from the D: drive as long as they are installed via the C: drive.  The 60gb 
should be easily useable.  An aftermarket XP book is worth the investment!
