What I found with my Ford is the filter becomes dirty due to the crankcase ventilation system where the blow by fumes clog the filter. I installed a K&N ages ago and the problem went away. I was replacing filters at the rate of about 5,000 miles. A word of caution, keep it well oiled for the best performance. Dave
