[AT] International 986 vs 1086?

It all depends on the tractor and what area of the country you’re in. If the tractor is/was a popular model in your area and there’s plenty available, the price could be low. I would go online and check what price is being asked for locally. You can also pick up one of those tractor sale booklets and see what they’re asking. Then there’s always the collector who needs one more for his collection and will pay above cost to get it. I usually don't bid until the auctioneer is just about ready to say “going for the third time” then I bid. If somebody else jumps in, I bid one or two more times, and if they continue, I start to jump bid to within one or two hundred of what I’m willing to pay. You just have appear like you’re not going to give up, placing your next bid even before the auctioneer turns to you after the other guy bids. Bidding is an art and it depends on who else is bidding against you, what your bidding on, and whether you really want it more than anybody else.

I’ve gone to auctions were I was going to bid, but before I could, the auctioneer would give up since he would keep lowering the bid and nobody was bidding. He’d sweeten the deal by throwing something else in as a package deal to get the bidding going. I would bid and usually walked away with what I wanted plus a freebie, all for the price I was trying to get the original item for or even less.

Subject: [AT] International 986 vs 1086?

Have an old farmer friend pass a few months ago, his daughter has
multiple  tractors up for auction up for bid. Any thoughts on pricing?

Thanks,
Mike M
