A great suggestion, Doug. The HEI distributors are a goot replacement 
for points distributors in GM engines. They aren't perfect, but almost 
anything beats a breaker point ignition. The biggest problem they have 
is some of the cheap aftermarket modules and the wires coming out of the 
pickup coil are prone to breaking because tehy originally had no strain 
relief where they exit the coil. I had that issue on a '78 Cutlass that 
my wife drove. When I carried the pickup coil into the parts store, the 
counter man said, "Yup, that's where they all break". Apparently a 
common problem.
