I was involved in production of Chrysler 3.9L V6 engines. The last 6 months of engine production was banked to be used for warranty and crate engine sales. The transfer machining lines were torn out and the saleable machines sold. The rest of the equipment was scrapped. The plant was torn down. There is never going to be any more of that model engine unless the aftermarket wants to sell the item. That is more consideration to the end user than is normal.

How about all the models of vehicles that went out of production due to the GM bankruptcy. I believe a lot of the production was stopped cold turkey.
