An acquaintance was driving his dump truck with attached tandem axle equipment trailer to pick up his skid steer loader. He got stopped by commercial vehicle enforcement and issued a six foot long ticket. Every not working side marker light was listed as a separate offence. Figure $1000 per foot of ticket. The spare tire was held to the bed with one strap, not two, another line item.

Steve Offiler AT List member Mechanical Engineer (soffiler at gmail.com); A specialist system is already in place.  Many/most/all? states have an emissions/safety inspection system.  Checking for illegal headlights would be fairly trivial.

James AT List Member (jamesgpeck at hotmail.com); Sounds like a state might need a specialist to enforce this. Still, looks like LED retrofits might best be tractor only.
