[AT] 1948 Ford 2,8,9N

I've already seen enough to want to grab it at $750 before it gets away.
A decent field-ready 8N in my area (southern New England) is a couple
grand. That would be a solid engine, good compression, no smoke, good tire
tread with no checking, decent hydraulics that will hold the implement up
for an hour or more, generally nothing keeping you from firing it up and
working it. A real quick and dirty way to evaluate the engine is to pull
the plugs. A lot of engine problems affect only one cylinder, so you'll
see one of the four with oil fouling. All four nice light tan is good
news. Doesn't tell you about the bottom end, of course.

Bear in mind that for bush-hogging you need an overrunning clutch on the
PTO. No live PTO or hydraulics.

Rear brakes can be an issue. The axle seals fail and the brakes slowly get
soaked. Exact details escape me but the repair entails a giant nut on the
axle stub that needs something like 600 ft-lb torque.

Ford made a ton of them.... half a million? (From memory) So they're still
out there in numbers and parts are readily available.

I am kinda missing my old 8N right now....
