[AT] Antique tractors anyone?

Valspar paint has a good reputation. I’m actually surprised that TSC sells and uses such good paint. Maybe they are putting lipstick on a pig. IMHO, the small trailers TSC sells are pieces of junk. Maybe that isn’t Valspar paint. Might be electrostatic. Really poorly built trailers with cheap materials. I’ve noticed some other products at TSC that are not worth writing home about either. My limited experience with TSC products is they are higher priced and lower quality. Maybe my limited experience sample is too small. So far I’m just not all that impressed. We had a new TSC store open about 8 miles from me a few years ago, I don’t go there very often. The location they picked is very strange. Kind of off the beaten path and not close to anything else I go to. I guess I would rank them one step above Lowes and one step below Home Depot which are all close to the bottom of the list. . Had to do a bunch of repairs to the house and barn this summer in preparation for painting and had a hell of a time finding some decent simple Cedar trim boards, Cedar channel siding etc. Finally found what I needed at some old non-chain lumber yards that are family owned but over 20 miles away. And I live in an area where Cedar trees grow like weeds. No other wood will stand up to our wet winter weather and then that is only about 30 years. Last year had to replace 8 wood windows on the house that was built in 1991. The new window installers told me that the wood windows that they took out were the best you could buy in 1991. Lasted only 27 years. But… they are on the wet shady back side of the house. The upper story windows more protected by the eaves were still good but….. I don’t think forever. Our constant 5 months to 7 months of wet overcast weather eats stuff up. I had to replace and build 6 all new horse barn stall doors. Again on the shady side of the barn. The 24’ of sliding door rail hoods over the two 12’s sliding doors made out of 1 x6 and 1 x 4 Cedar also needed to be replaced and they were less than 25 years old. There are disadvantages to living in God’s country. That is why we spend 5 months a year in AZ. However, the short summer makes up for it all. Sometimes summer even falls on a weekend.

I don't know if they have changed suppliers, but Tractor supply paints were made by Valspar. I checked on the formulation a few years ago when I was painting some trucks. Their truck and trailer enamel with the hardener was the same formula as House of Color, one of the top of the line of Valspar paints.

I remember when someone from the company was on this list several years ago, but that's about it. Perhaps another list member will remember more.

This is tractor related: Does anyone know anything about Magnet Paints? Was considering for my Jubilee but wondered if anyone had experience with it?

The Supreme Court was vindicated in this as IQ, as a measure of one’s innate intelligence, as been roundly debunked. The science was slimmer at that time but already pretty clear. The evidence has piled up since.

But that is immaterial to the purpose of my post: What I want to know is has anyone done anything with old tractors recently? I’m going to get out the old Ford and do final mowing for the fall. Been real dry but weeds have done alright and I need to knock down the weed heads before they seed.
