[AT] OT war on poison ivy

Years ago when I was cutting firewood with a friend, he used rubbing
alcohol to wash the oil off. I used it too, but the only place I ever
got the rash was on the insides of my wrists, where sawdust collected.
The sawdust may have sat in place long enough for the oil to cause the
rash, even though I used the alcohol to wash with. The rash was very
minor, only a few blisters, and was gone quickly. I used a commercial
ointment, I think it was IvaRest, to keep the itching at bay.

He demanded we buy some lye soap when the woman running the pioneer soap booth claimed its ability to clean up after poison ivy. We had Tecnu wash in stock in the house at all times. One time I brought in the gallon jug of mineral spirits and told him to use it as it was the same thing. His look that said "Dad, you are the stupidest human on earth, that is not the same thing". True I wouldn't pay the $300/gal for mineral spirits that Tecnu would cost. But they both work at cutting the oil. <snip>
