Jewelweed is a known itch relief for PI, however, like most PI medications, it only relieves the itch, it doesn’t make the rash go away any faster. PI takes two to three weeks to go away no matter what you use.
Witch hazel is another product that is used for PI itch relief. It’s known for its skin healing properties, which is what you want. Just apply with a cotton ball two to three times a day and the itch relief is almost instantaneous. It can be found in any pharmacy and is cheap, about $2 for a 16 oz bottle, compared to the $17 for a 6 oz spray bottle that you have to find a retailer for, or order on line and wait to get. The cost is so minimal that you can just pour it on.

This is a product made for treating the rash.

Steve Offiler AT List member Mechanical Engineer <soffiler at gmail.com>; Like Chuck Saunders, I too have realized the active ingredient in Tecnu is mineral spirits. And I have tried using mineral spirits from the workshop on poison ivy. I learned the hard way that Tecnu has some other ingredients that make it easier on the skin. My experiment with straight mineral spirits caused additional inflammation and made the PI discomfort worse. I might just have sensitive skin... while I use mineral spirits routinely at home and work for cleaning/degreasing, I always wear nitrile gloves.
