My recollections are that Wabco scrapers were a combination of 4speed transmissions, hydraulics, & electric motors. I know the steering and paddles were electric with steering toggle switch (yup, toggle switch) located behind the grab handle on the dash. Had to keep the engine wound up tight to keep voltages up or the motors would burn out. Wild in close quarter situations.

OPne is a Yellow civilian model and the other OD green ex military. I have never been close enough to them to determine the drive lines.

He was a real Genius and worshiped by everyone there. Unfortunately he died shortly after I met him. The Letourneau factory was across the road from the school. We toured the plant many times. They were manufacturing Giant Diesel electric dump trucks for mining Operations among other things. They were also making Battle Ship shells. This was during the Vietnam war and they were making munitions for the war effort. They even had their own steel mill on the site. The School was great. <Snip>
