[AT] Another test email

Two other related behaviors that I have seen that can cause confusion:
1) Order of mail receipt gets jumbled. I occasionally get somebody’s reply followed later on by the email they were replying to.
2) Either your mail client or the ISP might decide something is spam and discard it or redirect it to a spam folder. I’ve had certain ATIS emails sent to spam, often ones from a specific member on a specific topic if he has posted frequently to that topic. I am using Live Mail under gmail.

If I don’t see one of my own emails, I can often wait a while and see somebody else’s reply. If I get a reply, it must have been sent out (duh).

There are several possible explanations for this. There is a setting on our list administration site that you can go into to prevent the list from sending you any copy of messages you author. But nobody ever bothers to do that so I’m sure that’s not the case for any of you folks.

99 times out of 100 it is the ISP trying to cut down on the amount of traffic and storage and are eliminating messages that originated from the sender by defaulting a setting in users account to “do not deliver messages I author”. Sometimes you can change this yourself when you log into the web interface of your ISPs email. Sometimes it involves a call. Sometimes it is so difficult to get the ISP to even understand what you want you just switch. As Gene Dotson mentioned, it happened to him, switched to gmail, and the problem went away.

As Phil indicates there are some settings on your local mail client to that could cause this. One of them is replying to original author, rather than the list. There is another setting buried in there about not receiving messages you sent to a mailing list. I don’t think Thunderbird has that one though. But I have seen it in other email clients.

Todd, you may be having the same thing happen to you that I am having happen to me.

When I reply to a post from the list, my email has suddenly started addressing the reply directly to the sender of the post instead of addressing it to the list. I am having to change the address manually back to the list for it to show up there. I am using Thunderbird for my email and haven't been able to figure it out yet.

I'm not seeing my own posts show up either. I responded to Spencer's Cub Cadet post a few days ago.
I figured it would stir up some additional responses.

Thanks guys. My original showed up along with three responses.

I don't know whats going on. I replied a couple times about Spencers Cadet and he replied back, however I never saw my post. Happened a couple times very recently. Hopefully the issue has gone away......
