By weight and horsepower, the MF 1080 is a reasonable successor to the MH 555. I do not like its looks as well. 12 years later was an eternity in that era.

 [james] This article also questions dropping MH 555 production. But, there was a significant economic downturn in 1958 that encouraged MHF to shut down the Racine facility. Long term, Racine was a better location than Detroit.
