Was he trying to loosen the lug nuts or was he trying to remove the ring on a split rim? Would there still be semi trailers or tractors in service with split rims that this man was too young to know about. 

I got this notice at work of this accident "Preliminary summary of incident: On February 4, 2019, at approximately 1:30 p.m., a 26-year-old maintenance supervisor was using a tire changing hand tool to replace a highway truck and trailer tire when the tire exploded. He sustained severe trauma to his face and head. He was pronounced dead at the scene."  We get an email about every workplace death in the state.
