I have a good friend here who has a Physics degree.  He ended up being a
computer programmer for Seagate.  The work he does with hard drives is
very interesting, but he has to work his butt off to keep up with the
ever changing technology..  He must put in 80 hrs a week..

When he was a physics senior he was talking to that winner about doing a PhD with her on what she got the prize for. They he realized that there are 7 jobs for physics PhDs every year, which was the number of physics students in just his little school... He got his physics degree, but started looking for a way to transform that into a career with demand.
