When I used to help my dad or uncles cut firewood we always used tractor
power ( belt pulley) to run the saw.
When my brother started burning wood he didn't have a tractor with belt
pulley but did have the old Wisconsin
V4 engine that used to power the model A6 Case combine. So he gave the
old V4 the attention it needed to
run again. Set it up in a retired wooden grain bin and pinned down the
saw in front of the bin. Found a used multi
rib V belt to run (upside down) on the flat pulleys. Works great but
that Wisconsin needs a mechanic's skill to get it
started some days.  Crank starting at nearly 0F degrees.
