Hi al,

I know nothing about m farmalls, but if I were you, I would fix that
steering. I learned my lesson when the bearings in the Oliver's
steering sector failed, and in 6th, you'd bounce all over the road. Of
course I suppose that's the worst that could happen, but just a
thought.
Also on dad's 560 cockshutt, the pin that connected the power
steering and the mechanism came loose once when he was putting
ferdilizer on the pasture. To add to the problem, it was on a
hillside, and could've rolled over.
He got very lucky. It has since been fixed, but that could've been a
bad accident.
 Looking forward to your updates!
