Richard,

As far as I could find out, there may or may not be some plastic covers you remove from the outside of the rubber bushings to give you a little extra wiggle room, otherwise, the wrap around handle is just held in place by compression.  Brute force to pull it off the saw is about the only way to go (with a little prying).  Stihl actually makes bushing grease to put on the bushings to help slide it back on for reassembly.

Apparently it's a pain, and guys have used everything from saliva to KY jelly to help the process along.  The good news is replacement parts are readily available.
