Good luck Jim, hopefully you'll get the position. Plus I'm sure you'll
like escaping Taxxachusetts. I have a BIL that lives there and the
property taxes he pays are jaw dropping.

I never thought I could possibly get a job in that area of the country. I am will be in Danville on Feb 12th-13th for an onsite interview so wish me luck.

If you take Boston as a center and draw a 25 mile circle around it, this is where all the jobs are. As a result you have southern/northern/western MA, RI, NH, even southern Maine all heading to this 25 mile circle. The traffic is awful. I had to leave a job in Bedford, MA as it was taking me 2-4 hours each way for a 50 mile commute. You cannot live closer to your job as the real estate cost is staggering. There were 2 homes built near the Bedford job where I could have walked to work. I checked the price and found that they were 1.4 million each and both were sold! Add to the mix the politics/politicians in MA and lets just say they are not reflective of my beliefs and values. My current commute is 90 miles each way but the traffic is not too bad. We will see what pans out of this but the recruiter is very upbeat and told me to s!

Close to some of the best beaches in the country, and some of the best mountains in the country. Good place for outdoor activities. The NASCAR race at Martinsville is less than an hour away if you like NASCAR. The weather is moderate yet you have all four seasons. Low to moderate crime, clean environment and good infrastructure - all with low taxes; at least compared to elsewhere.

The ash spilled into the Dan river upstream here in North Carolina in 2014. Danville sits right on that river and is the river the city gets its drinking water from. As I understand it Danville was far enough off away to be relatively unaffected by that spill but I would still look at it much closer. Google "duke power Dan river coal ash spill".

Usually they are just calls that don't go anywhere but this job has progressed to the point where they want me to come down for a face to face interview. I have not been to Danville VA before but spent a lot of time in the greater Charlotte area. My question is how is the area in general? The closest I have been to this area was Mebane, NC which was a very nice town and had a good BBQ joint. Any info will be greatly appreciated.
